Is Facebook Broken For Business?

I’m struggling to appreciate the promoted posts “feature” of Facebook. All the Like-love we generated for a customer’s page seems to have vanished into the ether. Now we have to pay to get our video, photos or quips seen.

So in episode 74 of the Online Marketing & Communications podcast I look at how Facebook is making life difficult for (small) businesses.

There’s also some podcasting help and my first venture into the sharing economy.

Podcasting Equipment for 250 USD

Jez asked what I would recommend for the would-be podcaster with a budget of 250 USD. I recommend the Audio Technica ATR2100, a dynamic, dual USB/XLR mic. I’d plug that into a usb mic pre-amp like dht eFocusrite Scarlett 2i2 or M.Audio Mobile Pre and get recording.

NB: I don’t use this set-up on this show. The OMC podcast is made with a Heil PR40 mic, a Soundcraft mixer EPM 8, recorded on a Zoom H4N and edited in Adobe Audition. Phew!

The Sharing Economy

This week’s show includes a very special offer. If you’re interested in starting your very own podcast, this is the episode to listen to.
