It’s almost the end of 2016 and like many people, I can’t help but think about what could be, what should be in 2017. The end of the year is a time for reflection and it’s also a time for change.
In January, Online Marketing & Communications will become The Moondog Marketing Podcast. After 186 episodes, it’s time for a rebrand.
I’ve never really been happy with the name of the show and often refer to it internally as OMC. The term “online marketing” has become too generic and I want the show to sit more alined with the Moondog brand.
Although the podcast is recorded and produced by me, it’s more than that because it reflects the work that we as Moondog do. By changing the name, I hope to signal that the show is an integral part of the business’s commitment to marketing and particularly content marketing.
How to rebrand successfully
In this episode I talk through the importance of planning a rebrand, the kind of questions you need to ask ,and the pitfalls you need to avoid. In this instance there’s not that much at stake; however, if your company has been struggling of late and need to rebrand in order to reposition yourself it can be high stakes.
The most important thing is to always think through your key messaging. Will the rebrand effectively communicate the products or services you sell? Will the rebrand bring you closer to your target audience?
A Story for 2017
Finally, a tip for 2017. I’ve been using Airstory for a couple of months now and I’m enjoying it. A lot.
Airstory is a different kind of online writing tool that feels like bringing together Google Docs with a notebook and outliner.
It’s currently in beta, but definitely worth checking out.
If you try Airstory, I’m curious to hear how you get on. Let me know what you think in the comments below.
